The Ghost Project’ slogan for 2013: Design in Transition, calls for a much needed shift of designer’s role in contemporary society towards social innovation and wellbeing. Whether as creators, researchers, provocateurs, social entrepreneurs, facilitators or strategists, designers have greater social and moral responsibilities than ever. Not only is their prime function to solve problems, but designers also need to take a much more active approach in defining those problems within our society and respond to the changing economic, social and environmental circumstances. Apart from scanning what issues the design community is addressing today, the Ghost Project platform explores where designers could be taking us in the future.
Design concepts, products, furniture, lighting, interior elements, everyday objects, home accessories, stationary, aid products, recycled materials, fashion garments, etc. that offer innovative yet rational solutions to everyday problems.
