The team consisting of Pir II Arkitektkontor, SLA, Myklebust, Sweco and Cowi has been selected as winners of the competition for a new, large harbour park in Trondheim’s harbour area, Brattøra. The realization of the park will be based on this proposal. The competition was issue by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

The 23.000 m2 large Brattøra Open Space is situated between the water and a new 500 meters long secondary road. Nature’s raw forces, the changing expressions of the sky, the light, the poetic and the aggressive: These elements and processes will be present in the Brattøra Open Space. Here one is invited to experience the meeting between the town and the water, and a space that the town may enjoy on hot summer days, on tougher autumn days, ice cold winter mornings and blooming spring days. The Fjord Park is an area with a mini-wood, small picnic-areas, barbeque areas, space for different ballgames such as volley and basketball, possibilities for fishing, relaxing on the beach and to get close to the sea from the dammed area at the beach.

SLA and Pir II are already collaborating on the realization of Trondheim Crossing, which connects the harbour front and the town centre.
