The main theme of the project is to revitalize the territory of the Municipality of Sonderborg, especially the Augustenborg area that is Iocated around the fiord. The design wants to give a sensitive intervention about environmental sustainability aspects and sets above ali in privileged position the architectural landscape and social pre-existences. These aspects, in fact, represent the propulsive strength able to bring an economic and social improvement in the community of Augustenborg, that wishes with the city of Sonberborg to become one of the most dynamic and attrattive growth centres in the fields of business development, human well-being and culture. The project conceives Augustenborg as popular touristic destination for yachtspeople (as the residente already are), but also proper for congressional tourism and for young university students. The project is faceti through an approach that connect the three areas (in which the site of project seems to be divided) and at the same time emphasize its different characters. The three parts are the Nordhavn, the embankment, the marina, and, at the moment, are not well connected, but they have in common a strong natural presente (water, woods, cultivated fields for the pasture) and a strong historical and architectural identity. These two aspects are the specific characters of the site, that in a small area concentrate landscape and architectural quality. For this reason the architectural elements designed in the three areas have been conceived as filter elements between urban context and water, but at the same time as a connection between consolidateti urban texture and landscape and between the void of the water front and the built form. A cycle-pedestrian pathway (where also townspeople can go out and go running) connects the area of the harbour and the embankment carries the flows in the area of the Nordhavn. For their particular environmental valve the marina and the embankment have been conceived as a whole public area characterized by single buildings punctually located around the pedestrian path connection, to create a space of cohesion between the wood (sets in the southern part) and the new waterfront ali around the fiord. In the area of the Nordhavn the urban-architectural character is emphasized through the system made of the historical texture of Augustenborg, the new residential buildings, the new space of the greenhouse (winter garden), the near water front, realizing visual and physical connections between the water and the principal road Slotsgade. In the Nordhavn it is clear the wish to preserve, as far as possible, the memory of the past tied to the role of the harbor as point of landing, of passage, of exchange, of commodities and cultures. The maintenance of the Silos as symbol of identification for the whole community, to this point, it is fundamental to the purpose of the permanence of the historical memory. Also for this reason this building will be reconfigured inside so that can host public institutions for culture as: the which public institutions and service functions), the auditorium, the museum of local history, the touristic and territory promotion agency. The silos building is conceived as integrai part of the new system of buildings of the Nordhav, as the two residential bodies set on “multifunctional board” (winter garden), that with their T” form recali the Augustenborg Palace open spaces closing wide green public and private spaces. The new volumes are turned toward the fiord and the zone of the Marina, to make the surrounding landscape well visible from the apartments. These, set at the upper levels of the residential buildings, have been conceived as flexible space both from the dimensional and functional point of view. In fact, around the collective spaces (greenhouses and solar chimney) apartments of different surfaces have been projected with the purpose also to answer to the demands of temporary users as tourists, workers and students. As already said, the system of the public spaces of the northern zone is mainly set on one “greenhouse board” that it contains, besides the winter gardens, activities connected to the commerce and the services, around which are located big public or semipublic spaces, open or covered one. This concept has been also developed in the area of the embankment where the cycle-pedestrian and vehicular axis is served with rest areas and viewing-points on the green landscape and the fiord. Small cafes and shops allow fast pauses, relaxing breaks in contact with the sea and with the public access to the water through pathways or piers. It has been taken into consideration to consolidate the small nautical activities through the realization of spaces for hangar small boats or canoes. It has been taken into consideration to consolidate the small nautical activities through the realization of spaces for hangar small boats or canoes. In the marina have been put functions connected to the harbor and shipyard tourist activity: a “water garden”, a hotel, a camping, locale, restaurante, shops, offices of the pori authorities. The choice to connect these fundamental services to the functioning of the Silos building is due to our conviction that the whole area planned by us can be recognized as a whole space, able to create lasting bonds among the different parts of the city. For this reason the elements that made up the new urban system formally try to balance in a centre of mass set to the middle of the fiord. In this way a continuous tension is createti among the three banks that continually try to penetrate and to converse between them. This tension makes the waters of the fiord seems to be brille to the territory and to the city of Augustnborg.
