Into the landscape
3 architectures: from the design to the construction in scale 1:1
international workshpo in Seljord – Norway 24 settembre > 4 ottobre 2009 The design of the landscape is connected with words like ecology, environment, sustainability, trying to build a strong relationship with the physical space that gives shape to the environment. The workshop, leaded by the architect-artist Sami Rintala, through a piece of work in scale 1:1, has the goal to create a strong relation with the surrounding landscape. An “action-project” where the knowledge of the territory of the Seljord lake and the practical experience of the Norwegian woog construction techniques, will play a main role. The lanscape of the Seljord lake will be the main issue in the dialogue between wood and natural space, a challenge for every project and for every interpretation of the site.
PROGRAMME In the context of the Seljord lake, an untouched place in the heart of the Norway woodlands, the students will design and build three small architectures in scale 1:1: - one overnight shelter with fireplace, next to a good fishing place; - one sauna next to a good swimming place; - one construction to show a historic site, with information infrastructure.
The workshop will be leaded by SAMI RINTALA (www.rintalaeggertsson.com), internationally known for his architecture and art, he participated at the VII Biennal of Architecture in Venice-Italy.
