Fractal Block Project has been a great opportunity for the EDDEA team: it has given us the opportunity to approach a project of this importance not only to propose the best possible urban design, but to be able to take part in a complete review of the model of real-estate business in Moscow and similar markets.

In both respects, the solution converges in a single concept: “Mother Block” – A standardized block, open and flexible, as the software component from which gets its name – It is ready to receive standardized elements: “new” stairwells recycled from the existing industry, to form a complex and diverse city.

1 . – Taking advantage of the well designed A101 Master Plan, we imagine a new neighbourhood with a fractal structure, basing on the Tram route, enhancing the continuity of the green systems and creating the most efficient grid of all: the one that makes the most out of the sun. In this way we will achive the largest number of small and medium size apartments.

2. – Using the stairwell as a unit or “pixel”, and not the entire block, we get: – Remove all the inefficient processes of designers and technical persons, without compromising the diversity. – To bring to scene the existing industry of standardized blocks, which means low construction cost and immediate availability. – As we work with informed and “sensitive” blocks, we can incorporate more voices. With this argument we can propose a complete to review of the business model.

In summary, just an example: Masshtab asked us to design one block – but we designed them all.
