As possible relicts or local connecting factors are missing on the grounds of the future “Seepark Aspern”, an “actual scene” had to be created first. The clearly legible and lavish spatial composition of the new open spaces of the Aspern Lake Park is conceived as a contrast to Vienna’s inner-city density. The artistic conciseness of the composition forms an independent counterpart to the surrounding architecture.

A maximal diversity of views in different spatial situations is one of the essential premises of our design concept. This variety of views is created by folded landscapes and a sequence of bays and tongues of land, whose watersides are variably steep.

Besides the broad playground promenade at the southern border of the park, a meandering path connects the locations near the water and those in the inner park. This park loop guides the visitor to and from between the water and the inner part of the park. By this means both lively path segments close to the water as well as quiet, distant sections are created inviting the visitor to lie on the lawn, sunbathe or placidly read a book.
