The new building is within the Pajol neghbourhood masterplan a brownfield site in the centre of Paris. Along with the sports centre, the mixed-use development comprises a high school, cultural facilities, a youth hostel, and new busness units. The Pajol neigbourhood is one of the most deprived areas situated near Gare du Nord, the masterplan will radically transform the area. The building will comprise a regional-level sports hall, a fitness centre, a martial arts centre, and a youth centre.

The building is expressed by a simple and elegant design, where the transparency of the glazed ground floor contrasts with the opacity of the sports hall above, and that of the martial arts centre below. This contrast increases the visibility of the centre at pedestrian level, offering a light and airy entrance level, with views across the entire building. Al large covered terrace extends the entrance hall to the outside, offering a resting are facing the expansive views across Paris to the east.

The facade of the main hall is clad in prefabricated concrete elements, varying in depth and finishes to change with the varying angles of the sun. The roof of the sports hall brings north facing daylight throug subtly curved shed-type skylights.
