The urban development concept by the architect Bofill initially foresaw a triangular space, the geometry of which is conditioned by the alignment of the Conference Center.

By its marked horizontal platform the Conference Center forms the calm background of the solitary building of the new Philharmonic in the center of the area.

From its conception the Conference Center comprises two levels, which cover the differently shaped bodies in a continuous hall by an overlapping roof. The basis is formed by a stone foundation of several floors built along the natural delimitation of the building land.

The vegetal flat roof extends towards Place de l’Europe with a large overlapping narrowing border.

The 300 meters of calm glazed facade towards Place de l’Europe provide a view on the changing alignment of the interior construction elements, which are highlighted by the design of the building’s lighting.

The alignment of the interior construction elements starts at the top of the hall with the translucent Belvedere, which seems to float on bended supports underneath the large roof.

It is followed by the two-floor body of the large conference room in form of an ellipse.

The basis of the existing skyscraper will be visible inside the large hall down to the construction and foundation cores. Additional openings in the roofs will provide a vertical view.

Both bodies of the existing conference rooms will be adapted by a stone covering to the design and conception of the other construction elements.
