Intervención realizada al interior de un teatro construido en el 50 por el arquitecto Carlos Obregón Santacilia, para el edificio sede del Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social (IMSS). Dicho edificio tuvo un periodo de vida de 50 años, posteriormente fue necesario reestructurarlo, sufriendo un incendio a finales del siglo pasado dejándolo en completo abandono durante varios años. La propuesta de intervención encomendada, se basa en el rescate del cascarón de concreto, hito urbano catalogado por el Instituto de Bellas Artes, así como algunos detalles interiores que por sus características y buen estado fue importante conservar. Una vez que se han liberado los rasgos esenciales del edificio la selección de materiales arquitectónicos se hace en función de su versatilidad así como su fácil montaje (y desmontaje) en puntos específicos con el ánimo de permitir al máximo la apreciación de la obra original con la ventaja adicional de concentrar, de este modo, la canalización de instalaciones. El alto contraste de las texturas reciente intervención, en su mayoría, superficies tersas, brillantes y de color, sobre el cuerpo original de cualidades opacas, logran articular una restauración coherente y funcional a nuestros tiempos y al valor histórico-arquitectónico del edificio. El programa contempla la adecuación de este antiguo teatro en una sala de conferencias, actualización que incluye asientos ergonómicos, la reinstalación del equipo de iluminación, sonido, video y mecánica teatral, qsí como la recuperación del sótano para alojar salas de seminarios y un pequeño bar.
