WHICH IS THE STYLE THAT EXPRESS AND CHARACTERIZE INTERIOR DESIGN DECORATION OF THE DEMETRA ART HOTEL? WHICH ARE THE REASONS BEHIND STYLE CHOICE? First reason starts from the analysis of the existing building, our hotel. The period was the beginning of the 20th Century, when the contemporary style was Art Noveau. The second reason is referred to architectural and decorative features of the great historic Russian tradition and especially St. Petersburg’s one. We also considered client desire of design and decoration as an historic memory, in spite of the age of existing building, of the Tsar period, the Russian Empire, that is represented in our design considering Louis XV and Louis XVI Ages. In our project each of these three different styles is represented on different levels of the Demetra Art Hotel. Considering that Louis XV Age is the oldest one, we emphasized it designing middle levels of the hotel according to this style. These levels are more private and they have an appropriate and representative height. The first level rooms design and decoration are different from all the other rooms. Louis XV style is characterized by curved lines and shades of color that can be strong. Louis XVI style is characterized by more regular lines and more soft shades of color. Art Nouveau is characterized by the eclecticism and it joins together classic and modern design and it allows some originality. As regards we personalized room decoration in order to make guests feel really at ease. So choice of walls colors, fabric curtains, bedspread and armchairs, choice of the light design and lamps were very important. All these aspects were great part of the well being that client-guest should naturalness perceive.
