This competition’s goal is the conception of a new building for the Jonction eco-neighborhood’s public facilities in Geneva. The stakes are, on the one hand, the site specificities and the built surrounding and, on the other hand, diversity and density of the room programme which ask for complex functional solutions. Our proposition follows researches that are characteristic to the office and that we name the ‘total object’. The concept of a ‘total object’ consists of combining under a single element, the function, the form, the structure and the envelope of a building. This idea, associated with the programmatic and urban challenges of the project, allowed us to work from inside out by weaving and condensing the space with a single long and thin element which is sometimes beam, sometimes pilaster in order to obtain voids that shelter the major functional groups.
