IDEA
How can one express the future? On the one side, it should be an imaginary vessel full of ideas, on the other side something tangible. This vessel does not look like the present, but it is not entirely foreign. It should be set down on the ground in order to get experienced, but at the same time it should reach heights that have never been accomplished before. If it could be build up – it would be like a walkable cloud full of ideas and inventions. Maybe it is also the space shuttle, which carries out our ideas there first …

CITY SCULPTURE
The vertical facades of the BMBF and the office building at Humboldt Harbor are defining the urban frameset. The house of the future expresses an autonomous sculptural form within this ensemble. Two small public squares will be generated. One close to the road „Alexanderufer“- the other one close to the Kapelleufer. The entrance will be directly at this places, marked by large cantilevered roofs. These covered areas are the „communication zones“ – the showroom to the public. Urban high points generate a butterfly-shaped folding of the building roof. It is giving the house of the future the visual presence between the river Spree and the elevated trainline.

CLOUD – exhibition area upstairs –
The walkable cloud full of ideas and inventions. Insight views into the world of tomorrow. Outlook and window for the science and innovation in Germany. The “cloud” is the ideological and structural cover for a variety of tours through the „theme galleries“ and the „theme islands“ including an optional visit to the main show. Two large windows (north / south) offer representative views inside and outside towards Spree and elevated train. The concept of the “shop window into the future” by projection and lighting media supports interactive communication towards the urban space.

CAVE – Special Basement –
The underground laboratory, where the spirit and the concentration of the highly scientific and research work can be felt. The engine room for the journey into the future. The “Cave” orchestrated by their artificial environment away from sunlight as an independent city and experience of a future laboratory. It is centrally located and accessible by the Forum. It forms a flexible and divisible space depending on the curatorial concept.

FORUM – ground floor –
central gathering space for the common dialog. Public meeting room at the intersection of exhibition, event, Berlin, skytrain and Spree. The “Forum” is the central communication platform for visitors to exhibitions, events and catering. It combines the two main entrances to a common foyer and connects all other public uses. The individual sections can be played together and independently. The cafe and shop situate themselves at the high-traffic areas to the south, overlooking the Spree. The event spaces are oriented to the BMBF and interact to outdoor spaces and stairways through the movable facade elements. The “forum” offers the opportunity to get thematic previews and Appetizers of the current exhibitions and upcoming events. Central information, dressing rooms and check-in to the the exhibition area are highly visible and close to the entrances.
