Diamond Tower
Today the importance of new buildings of a significant dimension like the Cheongha City Tower project is rapidly changing from a simple, architectural statement to an extensive metabolically integrated body in the urban texture where the project is located.
In our proposal this building project will not only represent the symbol of a new and future oriented country but an important step towards the new function of design in the new century: the integration of the natural with artificial ecosystems.
We can visualize this concepts in the following diagram where we highlight the difference between the traditional approach as an oppressive statement on the territory eliminating the natural ecosystem while creating pollution, congestion, power and water problems, producing waste and burning non renewable resources.
In our proposal the design concepts must not only avoid the above mentioned problems but solve and prevent future ones and here the following, prevent this future problems:
entirely self-sufficient building;
pollution free area;
return on investment return;
creation of an artificial ecosystem functionally and metabolically integrated but physically separated from the natural one.
In order to follow our concepts the Cheongha City Tower Project must represent not only a monument but a continuous offer of new and interesting events for the local population as well as outside and foreign visitors.
The tower must not be a one in a lifetime experience as other examples such as the Eiffel Tower but create the continuous need to come back and utilize its services and facilities.
For that purpose it must provide a particular life in itself and propose a new lifestyle for its visitors.
We call such activities the Tower Experience.
They range from the rotating restaurant, sky plaza food court, vip rooms, covered helipad, sky fitness center and all the facilities that are located in the tower allowing visitors to enjoy this unique experience.
The proposed Master Plan reflects the following design concepts:
The Tower represents a vertical extension of the central park green area, making it favourably accessible for use by the majority of local population;
The central park is vertically extended through the Piazza and Boulevard, an elevated pedestrian facility that connects all functions, parks and facilities to the existing outside environment, to its access points, green areas and other city facilities;
Such piazza, as in the Italian tradition will represent the new Cheognha living room;
This Piazza is an environment that will be desired by most of the population as it represents the social and visual core of the entire community.
