A partire dalle misure del mobile da farmacia, dalle cui linee dipende l’intero arredamento, ad Appiano è nata una farmacia rispondente alle più elevate esigenze in termini di estetica e funzionalità. La superficie limitata ha reso imprescindibile un uso parsimonioso e razionale dello spazio. Un ampio bancone garantisce piena discrezione nella consulenza individuale dei clienti. Gli scaffali perimetrali, le cui linee orizzontali abbracciano ed ingrandiscono visivamente lo spazio, contengono generosi spazi espositivi. Inoltre, tra pavimento e soffitto sono incastrati tre mobili girevoli, sul cui lato esterno alcune nicchie consentono la presentazione dei prodotti in vetrina. La loro altezza impedisce sguardi indiscreti dall’esterno, senza pregiudicare la percezione spaziale e l’insolazione. L’arredamento, bianco, si mantiene in secondo piano, conferendo maggiore importanza ai prodotti esposti. Molta importanza è stata inoltre riservata al comfort dei commessi, ad esempio con lo studio approfondito dei percorsi.

Satisfying functional as well as aesthetic demands is not exactly easy for the pharmacy business, at least not in architectural terms. Things are apparently different in South Tyrol. Here, in a new building in the centre of Eppan, pharmacy has been built that actually meets the highest design standards. Due to the limited floor area, a thrifty, well considered use of space was essential for the executing architects from Monovolume. The concept therefore has its origins in every pharmacy’s holy of holies, the pharmacist’s cabinet, whose lines penetrate all the furnishings. Shelves around the edge of the interior were used to create copious presentation areas, whose horizontal lines embrace and visually enlarge the space and provide a setting for a tailormade Corian counter, which seems to float as a dynamic focal point on a band of light above the white marble terrazzo floor. Due to its unusual size for a village pharmacy, this simultaneously enables appropriate consulting activity and maximum discretion, while the unusual, highly curved shape prevents it from having too powerful an effect. Pivoting shelves were tensioned between floor and ceiling and present niches for displaying selected products on the side facing the window. Their height was determined such that they restrict the view from outside without lessening the generous feeling of space or amount of light entering the building. In order to direct the attention of customers to the mostly colourful products, the entirely white furnishings made from painted MDF retreat into the background. Balanced lighting throughout allows the pharmacy seemingly to disappear entirely behind its products.

Ausgehend vom Apothekerschrank, dessen Linien das gesamte Mobiliar durchdringen, ist in Eppan eine Apotheke entstanden, die höchsten ästhetischen und funktionalen Ansprüchen genügt. Aufgrund der begrenzten Grundrissfläche war ein sparsamer, wohl durchdachter Umgang mit dem Raum unerlässlich. Die große Theke ermöglicht eine angemessene Beratungstätigkeit in voller Diskretion. Üppige Ausstellungsflächen wurden durch umlaufende Regale geschaffen, deren horizontale Linien den Raum umarmen und optisch vergrößern. Zwischen Boden und Decke sind drehbare Regale eingespannt, die zur Schaufensterseite hin Nischen für gezielte Produktausstellung aufweisen. Durch ihre Höhe beschränken sie den Blick von außen, ohne das großzügige Raumgefühl oder den Lichteinfall zu beeinträchtigen. Das ganz in weiß gehaltene Mobiliar steht stets im Hintergrund, um die Aufmerksamkeit der Kunden auf die Produkte zu lenken. Geachtet wurde außerdem auf den Komfort der Angestellten, so etwa durch möglichst kurze Wege zwischen Theke und Apothekerschränken.
