Call Center Churubusco

51b-churubusco-01_large

This project consists of a low-budget call center in an industrialized area in southern Mexico City. Although the construction method and materials used are typical for the area—a simple modular steel frame as structure and profiled metal sheets for the volume’s facade—the Call Center Churubusco II evokes elegance. To provide abundant natural light, we removed large vertical strips from the modular metal sheeting, creating an equal open-and-closed distribution to the facade. The open segments paint striped patterns of sunlight onto the work floor of the interior. Special detailing of the entrance doors continues the simple logic of positive-negative along the center’s entire perimeter. The long vertical openings along the facade lend the volume a certain classical beauty—the typical industrial box transformed into an elegant, translucent curtain.
