The objective of the competition is the proposal of a cultural center in Sant Vincente de Raspeig, near Alicante.

Architecture is at the same time a part but also a global element, founder and founded by the city: it builds but is also built. It is upon this essential duplicity that all urbanity is born and therefore all urban architecture.

Defining the tensions that make possible the project to be a coherent answer to the territorys conditions led to a simple but powerful reflection with the city. Urban tensions are converted into new spaces for the city, establishing new urban relations. Gradually, the project models the urban space and becomes a new urban limit.

The building tries to interpret the place, becoming a new background to the urban activity that takes place in this new public space. Marking the transition between the historic city and the new urban areas, the project moves accordingly to the city: it adjusts and gives architectural form to the important elements that characterize the city and its environment.

A fluid and continuous element tries to attract and make up the differences of its environment as well as expressing its urban singularity, breaking the interior and making it into an open public square, final element of the urban axis and social meeting point.
