Urban development in this area is very recent and the urban tissu still witnesses of the initial heterogeneous constitution. This state is due to degradation of former industrial elements as well as to the exclusive occupation of the area by social housings and the absence of a mesh of infrastructure.

The social- and culture Centre of the Arbrisseau is a public building composed by a suite of different programs directly dedicated to the entire population of the neighbourhood: from the kinder-garden, by the multi-purpose-festival-hall to senior-activities rooms – the Centre of the Arbrisseau is a focal point in the direct social context.

On a rather small site at the junction of a crossroad and a park the building therefore develops vertically in a double spiral: the different programmatic spaces enrol around accompanying exterior spaces that accompany the different functions. In the centre of this double spiral a central void organizes the vertical visual relations and the staircases.
