The desire is to create a new building, visibly different, a dynamic counterpoint to the “usual” architecture of Vali Asr Ave. Where the ground floor is a continuation to the street life and a clear invitation to the city of Teheran. By dissolving the position of the building on the ground the complex voluntarily “destroys” the meeting between sidewalk and building and creates a spatial discovery engendered by the labyrinth complexity of the spatial composition. Fragile, moving…. Structurally not easily definable. Floors that become spatial – forms that with split‐levels create a labyrinth spiral. Externally the surface of the building moves like a garment that covers and caresses the structure. The forms become structure to create a united whole where the formal structure equals the structural construction. All the forms are interconnected structurally with a all‐covering metal‐grid. There are no beams or columns in the classical sense. We have chosen a spatial progress against the idée of linear route. The visitors never gets more than a glimpse of the structure and its spaces. The building is not a list of spaces put in order but a moving everchanging organism. Ground floor: The forms that make up the inner core of the organism open up on the ground floor and create inner spaces for public use. The entrance is set back according to the street in a concave way so as to accentuate the movement of the street in to the building. The ground floor is made up with three spheres, each one containing a commercial unit and a central staircase that connects to the first floor that is the continuation of this commercial units. This two floors are thought of as one unique whole. The office spaces: From the second floor all the way up to the sixth floor there are the office floors. They are inside long cylindrical two stories tubes and the offices follow the external surface of the tubes. All the floors have direct access to the center of the building where there are the vertical connections to the rest of the building. Apartments: On the seventh and last floor there are the apartments of the complex. They are all inside one organic form and develop on two floors, with a living room, kitchen and bath on the main floor and space for sleeping on another level with a sky‐view. Parking: Entrance to parking on the backside of the building. The parking is developed on 4 floors as asked for in the program.
