Thematic Pavilion of Expo 2012 Yeosu
The purpose of the competition is to select a design for the Thematic Pavilion, one of the major facilities of the Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea. To host the most successful world Expo ever, the Organizing Committee of the Expo 2012 Yeosu intends to proclaim the objectives of the Exposition by establishing the Thematic Pavilion at the Expo site. The Thematic Pavilion, located at the heart of the Expo site, will be an iconic architecture at the Expo 2012 Yeosu site. And it will acclaim the organizing committee’s efforts in realizing the theme of the exposition and give the feeling of unity to visitors.
The organizing committee of the Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea seeks an excellent and innovative design for the Thematic Pavilion that will bring the Expo to a refined event and increase the reputation of Korean architectural work.
The purpose of the competition is to select a master plan for the Thematic Pavilion of the 2012 Yeosu Expo, Korea. The master plan should include detailed schemes, such as site plan, floor plans, sections, elevations, circulation plan, exhibition plan, outdoor space and etc.
Design information
The Design Information will be distributed simultaneously with drawings and supplementary materials on 29 May 2009 after the competition registration ends. The registered participants will be able to download the design materials supplied to competitors at the competition official website.
Prizes
- 1st Prize (1 entry) : KRW 100,000,000 (Included in the design fee)
The first prize winner will be commissioned to execute the design development and final design for the thematic pavilion. (The design fee will be calculated in complying with the promoter’s regulations and budget)
- 2nd Prize (1 entry) : KRW 50,000,000
- 3rd Prize (1 entry) : KRW 30,000,000
- Honorable Mentions (3 entries) : KRW 10,000,000 each
