Ampliamento del Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ)
Concorso a partecipazione ristretta in due fasi
Candidati ammessi: 15
The principal elements of the project are as follows:
• gross surface area to be built (new pavilion including the link): 10,120 sq. m.;
• outdoor facilities: 3,155 sq. m.;
• refurbishing: 200 sq. m.
The new pavilion for the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec will be located in a
multi-faceted physical setting whose principal features are:
• a historic natural site, the Parc des Champs-de-Bataille, to be preserved and
showcased;
• heritage and historic buildings forming part of the Museum to be respected;
• the grounds of the former monastery of the Dominican friars, part of a church of
considerable heritage value, the two forming a coherent whole;
• a site forming part of a protected area, a house classified as historic by the
Government of Quebec: the Krieghoff house;
• the intervention of the Commission des biens culturels of the Government of Quebec
in the process of conferring construction permits;
• zoning adapted to the use of the entire site for museum purposes (April 2009);
• the first steps in a Plan Particulier d’Urbanisme (PPU) by the city in 2009-10 along the
Grande Allée, including the site of the Dominican friars and the Museum;
• a site that is highly sensitive to public opinion.
It is for these reasons that the design of the new pavilion is being addressed to the
